About Me

Hi There!

My name is Rebecca, and I delight in baking anything you can think of.  The reason behind this is the look on peoples faces when they take a bite of something I have made and make that wonderful face where their eyes slightly close and they smile without even realizing they did it.  You can see their taste-buds singing. 

There is nothing more comforting than a bite of the perfect chocolate chip cookie or slice of fragrant spiced apple cake to warm up your soul on the most difficult of days.  In reality, I am not in the baking business I am in the business of smiles and hugs, don't we all need those right now?  When we cannot reach out and get or give that hug, but we can send over a box of home made deliciousness with a smell of nostalgia that brings a slice of hope for when we can hug each other again.

Baking for others started when I was young.  My mother and grandmother ensured that I at least knew some basics about cooking and I realized I loved creating holiday meals.  At the age of eleven I decided to replicate a really complicated vegetable garden cake.  Little did I know how much fun and how much work would go into a cake like that.  However, once the spark of baking something so beautiful was there I decided that I would do it often, or whenever my family let me for holidays. 

A few years ago, I was in a situation where I had to make some drastic life changes for my children and myself.  This forced me to rethink my entire life, and turn to the support of my family.  They encouraged me to start over and helped me rediscover what I loved in cooking.  To get through the changes and chaos that seemed to swarm around me I would bake and cook.  Testing recipes fed my soul with inspiration and allowed me to continue to be creative when it felt like my inventiveness was running dry.  One of the first things I did when my life turned around was to bake cookies with my daughter.  We needed a moment to just sit in the kitchen and eat them with a hot cup of tea and cocoa.  The world seemed calm again.  If my confections can provide that moment of calm for others then I have succeeded.
