Strawberries are coming into season soon, and Valentines Day kicks it off. This simple sweet red berry that is undeniably a favorite, I have highlighted that tart and sweet fresh taste with a nutty and crisp rye flour crust.


These tartlets are bursting with flavor and texture. A good tart shell is crisp and flakey and adds flavor to any tart. This rye tart shell is all of those and more. Alternative doughs can be a refreshing change of pace from the traditional sweet tart doughs that often become dry or even meld into the flavor of the tart filling. Rye dough stands out and gives a nutty taste that complements the caramelized strawberry flavor of the jam in the bottom of the tart. When you get a bite with fresh strawberry the juice flows into the crust and starts your taste buds dancing.
